The National Police together with students, the Student Executive Board (BEM) and Youth Organizations (OKP) collaborated to hold social service activities (baksos) for the month of Ramadan, for people who especially live in the Slum Area area.
“I express my appreciation and gratitude for the initiative and cooperation initiated by colleagues, that today all colleagues, approximately 50 elements who are members of the BEM and OKP alliance are carrying out social service activities,” said Sigit in his speech at the event entitled ‘Precision Police Social Service with Students, BEM and OKP for the Community in the Blessing Month of Ramadan’ at Banteng Square, Central Jakarta, Monday (25/4/2022).
Sigit emphasized that this collaborative activity is a concrete manifestation of student, BEM and youth elements as a form of concern to help the community, especially those affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.
According to Sigit, by going directly to the community base, students and youth who are the nation’s next generation, have made the best contribution to the State of Indonesia.
“Of course, continue to work, continue to speak out, the voices of democracy, and take concrete steps to be able to make the best contribution to the people, nation and state of Indonesia,” said Sigit.
On the other hand, the former Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police revealed that this collaborative activity with students, BEM and youth elements was not a first. The reason is, when the corona virus pandemic occurred, the National Police and these elements had synergized in order to handle and control the Covid-19 Pandemic.
“Of course, this activity is not the first, we have often been together since we first started carrying out activities to face the Covid-19 Pandemic in the form of joint vaccinations and then also other social service activities,” said the former Banten Regional Police Chief.
In fact, said Sigit, thanks to the synergy between the National Police and students and youth, currently the growth rate of Covid-19 can be controlled well. In fact, Sigit said, Indonesia is one of the countries with the highest vaccination achievements at world level.
“Thank God, today we all see that the rate of Covid-19 has been well controlled. Our positivity rate is below 1 percent. Currently we have successfully vaccinated approximately 397 million. And we are number five for the most vaccinations in the world. “This is hard work from all elements and it includes students, BEM colleagues and youth,” explained Sigit.
With the rate of Covid-19 under control, Sigit stated, the Government has allowed people to go home for Eid in 2022 by implementing strict health protocols and accelerating booster vaccinations. This policy is also the hard work of students and youth.
Before ending his speech, Sigit invited students and youth to jointly educate people who are going home to implement health protocols. As well as, helping to accelerate vaccination for travelers.
“Currently we are providing it at security posts, service posts and integrated posts for people who haven’t had a booster, they can get a booster. So that we are sure that all people returning home and at their destination are all safe. High immunity, so the rate of Covid-19 can be maintained. We also hold free homecoming together with. These students can also be utilized. There are 400 buses prepared, 20 thousand seats prepared. “So that the burden on homecoming traffic can be reduced,” concluded Sigit. (Ed/ANC)
